Legacy Motor Club teams up with McLaren for Indy 500 collaboration

Legacy Motor Club, the NASCAR team owned by Jimmie Johnson, is partnering with Arrow McLaren for the 110th Indianapolis 500, set for May 24.

As part of the collaboration, Brian Campe from Legacy Motor Club will serve as race strategist for 2014 Indy 500 winner Ryan Hunter-Reay in the No. 31 Chevrolet. Campe previously played key strategic roles in past Indy 500 campaigns, including a win in 2015 with Juan Pablo Montoya and working with Johnson in 2022.

Hunter-Reay’s race engineering team will also feature experienced Arrow McLaren personnel, including Olivier Boisson as race engineer and Didier Francesia as crew chief, both with prior Indy 500-winning experience.

Jimmie Johnson is expected to be actively involved at Indianapolis Motor Speedway in the build-up to the race, continuing his connection to IndyCar despite focusing mainly on NASCAR operations.

Hunter-Reay, a former IndyCar champion and 2014 Indy 500 winner, will drive a fourth Arrow McLaren entry alongside the team’s full-season drivers. He returns to the event after a strong showing last year where he led laps before a late fuel issue ended his race.

Arrow McLaren also announced new partnerships with GXO Logistics and Armed Services YMCA (ASYMCA) for the Indy 500 program, adding both branding and support initiatives around the event.
