DAZN acquires ViewLift in $100m deal to boost streaming strategy

DAZN has agreed to acquire streaming technology firm ViewLift in a deal valued at around $100 million, combining cash and equity, as part of its push to expand in the U.S. market.

The transaction, expected to close in June, strengthens DAZN’s ability to offer direct-to-consumer streaming solutions to sports teams, leagues and regional broadcasters. The company is positioning itself as a flexible partner, capable of delivering tailored digital distribution models depending on the needs of rights holders.

ViewLift brings more than a decade of experience working with franchises and regional sports networks, including collaborations with teams like the Vegas Golden Knights and platforms such as NESN. The company will continue operating under DAZN ownership without major structural changes.

The acquisition comes at a key moment in the U.S. sports media landscape, as the potential shutdown of regional broadcaster Main Street Sports Group creates opportunities for streaming platforms to secure local rights, particularly across leagues like the NBA and NHL.

DAZN, which has historically focused on international markets, is increasingly targeting the U.S., with a growing team based in New York and ambitions to become a major player. The company’s strategy includes a mix of subscription services, free-to-air content and partnerships with traditional broadcasters.

The addition of ViewLift enhances DAZN’s technological capabilities and broadens its offering at a time when teams and leagues are actively exploring new digital distribution models for their media rights.
