MotoGP has appointed Vince Russell as its new chief financial officer with immediate effect, as the championship continues negotiations with manufacturers and teams over a new commercial agreement governing revenue distribution and participation terms.
The appointment is part of the broader corporate restructuring led by Liberty Media, which has been strengthening MotoGP’s executive structure with international talent from the media, technology and entertainment sectors.
Russell joins MotoGP following his tenure as CFO of Channel 4 in the United Kingdom, where he oversaw a major organizational transformation and modernization process. Prior to that, he spent 15 years at Sky, holding several senior leadership positions.
In his new role, Russell will oversee the financial management of MotoGP, a department previously led by Enrique Aldama. Aldama will remain with the organization as chief operating officer and member of the board of directors.
Russell highlighted the championship’s international potential following his appointment.
“This sport has a passionate global fanbase and enormous potential, and I look forward to working with Carmelo, Enrique and Carlos, as well as the entire team, to build on this strong foundation and support the next phase of its development,” he said.
Meanwhile, Carmelo Ezpeleta emphasized the strategic value of Russell’s experience as MotoGP expands its position as a global sports and entertainment platform.
“As we continue developing and growing as a global sports and entertainment platform, his experience across leading international media and technology organizations, combined with his track record in transformation and financial performance, will be invaluable for the next phase of our growth,” Ezpeleta stated.
