YouTube has unveiled a new suite of AI-driven advertising and commerce tools aimed at helping brands improve conversion rates and audience engagement across the platform.
The announcements were made during Brandcast 2026, where YouTube introduced several features designed to strengthen its position as a commercial video platform for advertisers and content creators.
Among the most significant additions is “Buy with Google Pay”, a feature enabling viewers to complete purchases directly from Smart TVs in just two clicks. The tool is intended to simplify the path from video discovery to transaction, particularly for connected TV audiences.
YouTube has also integrated its latest artificial intelligence models, including Gemini, Nano Banana and Veo, into a multimodal video creation system. The technology allows brands to move from a creative brief to final video production using AI prompts.
Another major launch is “Custom Sponsorships”, an AI-powered advertising product that dynamically matches brands with relevant videos and cultural moments across the platform. The system is designed to identify specific content environments aligned with a brand’s objectives and automatically place sponsorship integrations in suitable contexts.
The platform has additionally expanded its Masthead advertising format — YouTube’s highest-visibility ad placement that appears at the top of the app on television and mobile devices. Brands will now be able to select additional videos displayed directly beneath the main advertisement, increasing content association opportunities.
YouTube also revealed new commerce and performance marketing integrations through Google’s Commerce Media Suite, adding retailers including Costco and Dollar General. The integration enables advertisers to target high-intent consumers using first-party retail data via Display & Video 360.
The company further expanded its Affiliate Partnerships programme, allowing brands to amplify creator content where products are already tagged and connected to YouTube Shopping affiliate links.
Creator content becomes central to YouTube’s strategy
Positioning creators as “the new Hollywood”, YouTube also announced several original creator-led productions under its new Creator Shows initiative.
Upcoming projects include Keep the Meter Running by Kareem Rahma and Before the Steps, a docuseries covering the Met Gala created by Alex Cooper.
According to company data, when creators mention products on YouTube, viewers are 13 times more likely to search for the brand and five times more likely to complete a purchase.
Sport will also play a significant role in YouTube’s original content strategy. The company confirmed that football and high-performance entertainment formats will form a key part of its audience growth plans beginning in 2026.
The rollout will begin with Jesser’s Summer of Soccer, an eight-episode series tied to the 2026 FIFA World Cup featuring appearances from Gerard Piqué and Céline Dept.
Later in the year, Erling Haaland will headline Erling’s Gauntlet, a physical and mental challenge series featuring creators including The Sidemen competing for the “Haaland Hammer” trophy.
Looking ahead to 2027, YouTube plans to launch Pros Vs YouTubers, hosted by creator Jesser and featuring matchups between digital creators and former professional athletes such as Dwyane Wade.
