The WTA Finals will relocate to Indian Wells after the Women’s Tennis Association and the Saudi Tennis Federation agreed to end their hosting partnership in Riyadh ahead of schedule.
The two sides announced in a joint statement that they had “mutually agreed” to conclude their three-year agreement early. The original deal was set to run through 2026 and included one final edition of the season-ending championship in Saudi Arabia.
Instead, the prestigious event will now be staged in Indian Wells, California, marking a return to the United States after a brief tenure in Riyadh.
Saudi Arabia has invested heavily in global sports in recent years, using high-profile events to strengthen its presence within the international sports industry. The WTA Finals represented one of the country’s most significant ventures in professional tennis.
Neither the WTA nor the Saudi Tennis Federation disclosed specific reasons behind the early termination of the agreement, stressing only that the decision was reached by mutual consent.
Indian Wells is widely regarded as one of the premier venues in world tennis, and hosting the WTA Finals is expected to enhance the tournament’s commercial appeal and global profile in the coming years.
