beIN Sports has strengthened its sports broadcasting portfolio in France after securing rights to the EuroLeague basketball competition and the men’s and women’s EHF Champions League handball tournaments.
The broadcaster will begin showing the EuroLeague in France from the 2026/27 season, marking its return to the competition after previously holding the rights between 2013 and 2017.
beIN Sports will broadcast matches involving French clubs ASVEL and Paris Basketball, provided they qualify, as well as a major fixture between two other European teams. The EuroLeague was broadcast by Skweek last season.
The broadcaster has also acquired the French rights to the men’s and women’s EHF Champions League through a co-broadcasting agreement with HandballTV. The competitions had been left without a broadcaster following the expiration of Eurosport’s previous deal.
The agreement was organised with the French Handball Federation and EHF Marketing, with support from the National Handball League.
The latest acquisitions come as beIN Sports continues to reshape its sports rights portfolio. The broadcaster did not renew its LaLiga agreement in France and is currently in talks over an extension of its FA Cup rights.
Despite the changes, beIN Sports maintains a broad sports offering. Florent Houzot, the broadcaster’s programming director, said beIN Sports is the only channel in the world to broadcast all five major U.S. sports leagues.
In addition to its coverage of U.S. sports, beIN Sports holds rights to the German, Turkish and Portuguese football leagues, as well as French domestic handball and volleyball competitions.
