Brisbane 2032 Olympics Organising Committee CEO Cindy Hook will leave her position in December 2026, when her four-year term comes to an end. The committee will launch a global search for her successor as preparations for the Games continue.
Cindy Hook, CEO of the Brisbane 2032 Olympics Organising Committee, will step down in December 2026 at the conclusion of her four-year tenure. Hook, the former CEO of Deloitte Asia Pacific, took up the role in 2022.
Organising Committee President Andrew Liveris praised Hook’s contribution to the development of the Olympic project, highlighting her focus on strong governance, financial processes and organisational excellence. He also credited her with building a high-calibre team and establishing a solid foundation for preparations for the 2032 Games.
Global search to begin for Hook’s successor
The organising committee confirmed that it would launch a comprehensive international recruitment process to appoint a new CEO. The leadership transition comes as Brisbane 2032 enters another phase of planning and development.
Hook’s departure coincides with ongoing scrutiny of the Games’ projected costs and infrastructure requirements. Organisers are working with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to reassess the long-term budget and financial framework for the event.
Brisbane 2032 budget under review
At an IOC session in Milan in February, Liveris said the organising committee was working with the international body on a revised budget framework. He noted that the original bid estimate of A$4.9 billion no longer reflected current economic realities.
Hook will remain in the role until December, allowing time for the committee to coordinate the leadership transition. Her successor will be expected to oversee key areas of the preparations, including venue development, financial planning and engagement with international stakeholders.
The appointment will mark a new chapter for Brisbane 2032 as organisers continue working towards delivering the Summer Olympic Games in 2032.
