As the 2026 World Cup in North America approaches, French broadcaster M6 has unveiled an unprecedented commercial strategy. According to the sales house M6 Unlimited, a 30-second advertisement during the final on July 19 could reach a staggering €500,000—the highest rate in French television history.

The “Bleus” Factor
This peak price of half a million euros is specifically reserved for an optional commercial break just before a potential penalty shootout, contingent on the French National Team (Les Bleus) reaching the final. For comparison, the previous record was held by TF1 during the 2022 World Cup Final (France vs. Argentina), where a 30-second spot cost €330,000.

Innovative “Cooling Break” Slots
M6 is also introducing a new high-value inventory: the “Cooling Break.” These one-minute breaks, occurring mid-way through each half, are expected to draw massive engagement.

Final Price: €425,000 per 30 seconds (with France in the final).

Group Stage Price: Between €200,000 and €325,000 for France’s matches.

With 54 of the tournament’s top matches being broadcast by M6, the network is betting big on the tournament’s expansion to the US, Canada, and Mexico to drive its revenues to new heights.
