Aleph, a global powerhouse in digital advertising, has officially snapped up the exclusive broadcast and multimedia distribution rights for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the Philippines.
The deal, unveiled yesterday, positions Aleph as the primary “gatekeeper” for the tournament’s commercialization. The firm will be responsible for appointing media partners across all platforms, including free-to-air television, pay-TV, digital streaming, and video-on-demand (VOD).
A Digital-First Strategy for 2026
The 2026 edition, hosted across the US, Mexico, and Canada, will be the first in history to feature an expanded roster of 48 teams. This expansion creates a massive inventory of 104 matches, offering unprecedented opportunities for brands in the Southeast Asian market.
“We are seeing a fundamental shift in fan culture,” stated Anna Dy, Country Head for Aleph in the Philippines. “Digital content creation has become a primary way for fans to share the sport in real-time. For brands, this is a massive opportunity to connect with an audience that is more mobile and invested than ever before.”
Competitive Landscape
The tender process for these rights began in November 2024. While the Philippine men’s national team has yet to qualify for a World Cup, the region’s interest in global football has surged following the success of the 2022 tournament and the recent Women’s World Cup.
In a related global development, BeIN Sports also secured rights earlier this week to broadcast the next two World Cups in France, highlighting the high stakes and massive valuations currently surrounding FIFA’s flagship property.
