Following the rekindling of their partnership in 2025 after a 15-year hiatus, adidas and the South African Football Association (SAFA) have launched a home kit that serves as a bridge between the historic 2010 World Cup and the nation’s new era of football excellence.
Design Inspiration: The Spirit of 2010
The 2026 home jersey is a “bold evolution” of the iconic 2010 kit. It retains the unmistakable vibrant yellow base with classic green detailing, including the signature Three Stripes on the shoulders and a refined green collar.
- Modern Performance: While the look is nostalgic, the construction features adidas’ latest CLIMACOOL+ technology and 3D body mapping to handle the physical demands of the North American summer.
- Unified Identity: For the first time, both the men’s team (Bafana Bafana) and the women’s team (Banyana Banyana) will share this unified home kit design.
Celebrating 12 Official Languages
The most significant cultural update is the integration of South Africa’s linguistic diversity. While the 2010 jersey subtly nodded to 11 languages, the 2026 version has been reimagined to reflect all 12 official national languages.
- Woven Storytelling: The fabric features sutil graphic patterns that represent the “many voices” of the South African people.
- Symbol of Unity: SAFA CEO Lydia Monyepao described the jersey as “more than match-day apparel—it is a unifying symbol for players and fans alike.”
