FC Barcelona Reaches 62,000 Milestone

FC Barcelona has taken another significant step in the ambitious redevelopment of Spotify Camp Nou. The club has been granted a new occupancy licence, allowing for an increased capacity of 62,652 spectators ahead of this Sunday’s LaLiga clash against Sevilla.

Expanding the Matchday Experience

The approval of Phase 1C by the Barcelona City Council unlocks critical areas of the stadium, including:

  • Gol Nord Stand: Full activation of the northern stand.
  • Premium Hospitality: Opening of exclusive VIP lounges, including the Pitch Club and Main Hub in the Grandstand, and the Mini Hub in the Lateral stand.
  • “Gol 1957”: A newly designated supporters’ area in the Gol Sud, specifically designed to amplify the matchday atmosphere and pay homage to the stadium’s inaugural year.

Strategic Progress Towards 104,000

While the current capacity sits at 62,652, the ultimate goal remains the completion of the 104,000-seat stadium. Club President Joan Laporta confirmed that progress is moving steadily, with the foundation for the stadium’s third tier already largely in place.

Regarding the upcoming roof installation, the club is aiming for a strategic approach. Laporta expressed optimism about avoiding further relocation, stating: “Ideally, we would agree with LaLiga to a staggered start… to allow for roof installation in the summer of 2027.” Should a temporary move be required, the club is already preparing contingency plans to expand the Estadi Johan Cruyff to accommodate 15,000 to 20,000 fans.

This reopening phase marks the completion of the first and second tiers, signaling that the “new-look” Camp Nou is rapidly taking shape.
