Two of the NFL’s most iconic quarterbacks, Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers, are set to headline separate flag football tournaments on the same day in Southern California, highlighting the sport’s growing popularity.
Brady will face off against Joe Burrow at the Fanatics Flag Football Classic, scheduled for March 21 at BMO Stadium. The venue is notable as it will host flag football during the 2028 Summer Olympics.
The event will be broadcast by Fox Sports and streamed internationally on YouTube, positioning the tournament as both a sporting showcase and a media platform tied to the ambitions of sports merchandise giant Fanatics, where Brady has business interests.
High-profile internet personalities including Logan Paul and IShowSpeed are also expected to participate.
Rodgers Hosts Charity Tournament
At the same time, Rodgers will host the RX3 Charity Flag Football Tournament roughly an hour south in Orange County at Saddleback Stadium.
The event is organized by RX3 Growth Partners, the investment company Rodgers co-founded. Unlike Brady’s broadcast-focused showcase, the RX3 tournament is designed primarily as a charity event and in-person fan experience.
Teams will select their quarterbacks through an auction format, with 10 quarterbacks allocated to 10 teams, each supporting a charitable organization. Amateur players will also join the celebrity-filled rosters.
Last year’s tournament raised around $3.5 million, with a team led by Sam Darnold claiming victory.
Growing Spotlight on Flag Football
This year’s RX3 event will also feature a team made up of players from USA Football‘s women’s national flag football squad. Meanwhile, the men’s Team USA roster will compete in the Fanatics Classic.
Despite the scheduling clash, organizers say the two tournaments serve different purposes and ultimately benefit the sport.
“With NFL players’ offseasons being relatively short, it was probably only a matter of time before events overlapped,†organizers noted, referring to the busy spring calendar between free agency and offseason training programs.
Still, the coincidence sets up an unusual scenario where two legendary quarterbacks—Brady and Rodgers—will once again go head-to-head in spirit, this time through competing flag football events designed to spotlight one of the fastest-growing formats of the game.
