The Premier League Trophy Tour has arrived in Australia, drawing thousands of football fans eager to see the iconic silverware up close. Arsenal legend Theo Walcott helped launch the Sydney leg of the tour, hosted by Stan Sport.
The Sydney event culminated in a Football Fan Fest at Metcalfe Park, where supporters could take photos with the trophy and meet Walcott. The celebration also included a live recording of Stan Sport’s football show Added Time, featuring appearances from Mark Bosnich, Adam Peacock, and Craig Foster.
Earlier in the week, the tour kicked off at Taronga Zoo, where Walcott and the trophy were welcomed in front of some of Australia’s most iconic wildlife with Sydney Harbour as the backdrop. Walcott also visited local club Manly Vale FC, hosting a coaching clinic for hundreds of junior players.
The former Arsenal forward even experienced Australian sport firsthand, attending the Sydney Roosters v South Sydney Rabbitohs NRL derby. After the match, he entered the Roosters’ dressing room to speak to the team and pose with the trophy.
Michelle Chandran, Stan Marketing Director, praised the overwhelming response from fans.
“Our goal was to bring a global competition to life in local communities across Australia, and the response has blown us away.â€
Walcott also commented on the energy of the local supporters:
“Seeing the passion for the game here in Sydney has been nothing short of incredible.â€
The tour now continues to Melbourne for a sold-out watch party at Hickens Hotel, where Walcott and Stan Sport expert Adam Peacock will join fans for Arsenal v Everton, Chelsea v Newcastle, and West Ham v Man City matches, followed by a media appearance at the MCG. Additional events are scheduled in Richmond and Brisbane, including appearances by Premier League legend Thomas Sørensen and Stan Sport expert Craig Foster.
In Australia, every Premier League match is available to stream live and on demand via Stan Sport, allowing fans nationwide to celebrate the league from wherever they are.
