Strasbourg Fans Plan London Protest Against BlueCo Multi-Club Ownership Model

Supporters of French club RC Strasbourg are preparing to stage a large-scale protest in London against the club’s shared ownership with Chelsea FC, escalating a long-running dispute over multi-club control in football.

The demonstration, scheduled for April 18 ahead of Chelsea’s Premier League match against Manchester United, will see fans from Strasbourg travel to Stamford Bridge to voice their opposition to the BlueCo ownership group, led by American businessman Todd Boehly. The protest will also include participation from Chelsea supporters, highlighting growing concern on both sides.

Since BlueCo acquired Strasbourg in June 2023, fans have increasingly criticized what they see as a “satellite club” model. They argue that Strasbourg is being used primarily as a development hub for Chelsea—receiving young players, surplus squad members, and even staff movements dictated by the London club.

Despite Strasbourg’s strong sporting performance—including a solid Ligue 1 campaign and a deep run into the Conference League—supporters fear a lack of long-term stability. Key talents are often transferred to Chelsea or sold to generate revenue, limiting the club’s ability to build a consistent squad identity.

In response, fan groups from both clubs have issued a joint statement condemning BlueCo’s management, calling for the group to leave both clubs and criticizing what they describe as the erosion of club identity and supporter influence.

Strasbourg fans have already staged multiple protests, including match boycotts, banners, and coordinated walkouts during the first 15 minutes of games since August 2024. Previous demonstrations in France and the UK have so far been ignored by BlueCo, which has shown no indication of changing its multi-club ownership strategy.

The upcoming London protest marks a significant escalation, as supporters attempt to bring their message directly to the doorstep of Chelsea—one of the most powerful clubs in European football.
