VTM Expands PDC Rights Deal to Include Full European Tour Coverage from 2027

Belgium’s Dutch-language broadcaster VTM has significantly expanded its media rights agreement with the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC), securing exclusive coverage of all European Tour events from 2027.

The new agreement builds on a partnership first established in 2020, under which VTM has been broadcasting the PDC’s flagship competitions free-to-air. These include major events such as the PDC World Darts Championship and the Premier League Darts, alongside selected European Tour stops held in Belgium.

From 2027 onwards, the broadcaster will extend its coverage to include every European Tour tournament, airing matches live across its linear channels VTM 4 and VTM 2, as well as its streaming platform VTM GO. The move marks a substantial increase in accessibility for Belgian darts fans and reflects the sport’s rapid rise in popularity in the country.

That surge has been fueled in part by the success of events such as the Belgian Darts Open, held in Wieze, and a sold-out Premier League night at Antwerp’s AFAS Arena earlier this year. The growing local interest has translated into stronger broadcast demand and increased commercial value for the sport.

PDC Chief Executive Matt Porter welcomed the expanded agreement, highlighting VTM’s role in developing darts’ presence in Belgium. He described the increased coverage as “a significant step forward” that underlines both the strength of the partnership and the sport’s upward trajectory in the region.

The renewed deal forms part of a broader global expansion strategy by the PDC, which continues to grow its international media footprint. Recent agreements include a long-term extension with streaming platform DAZN across Germany, Austria, and Switzerland through 2031.

In the UK, coverage remains anchored by Sky, which recorded peak viewership of 2.5 million for the latest World Darts Championship final, where teenage sensation Luke Littler defeated Gian van Veen. Meanwhile, commercial broadcaster ITV recently renewed its own PDC rights package through 2028.

Additional broadcast agreements across Europe—including deals with Viaplay in the Netherlands and L’Equipe in France—further underline darts’ transformation into a fast-growing international media property.

With expanded coverage in Belgium and a widening global footprint, the PDC is continuing to capitalize on rising fan engagement and the increasing commercial appeal of live darts.
