French broadcaster TF1 has announced the end of its historic football magazine show Téléfoot, marking the close of nearly 50 years on air.
The final broadcast is scheduled for June 14, 2026, bringing an end to one of the most recognizable football programs in France.
Shift toward a multisport format
Starting in September, TF1 will launch a new multisport magazine to replace Téléfoot’s traditional format. The program is expected to be presented by Grégoire Margotton.
This change reflects a broader editorial and strategic shift toward more diversified sports content.
Telefoot brand continues digitally
Although the TV show is ending, the Téléfoot brand will continue on the digital platform TF1+, with a new format yet to be defined.
End of an era in sports broadcasting
Launched in 1977, Téléfoot became a staple of French football coverage. However, its influence has declined due to:
- Fragmentation of broadcasting rights
- Changes in media consumption habits
- Rise of digital and on-demand platforms
The decision highlights the ongoing transformation of sports media from traditional TV to digital-first ecosystems.
