LA28 Olympics: 5 Million Fans Await Ticket Results This Week

The race for Los Angeles 2028 Olympic tickets has officially begun. This week, the first group of five million registered fans will find out if they have secured a chance to purchase seats for the upcoming Summer Games.

Organizers are moving quickly to avoid the “endless virtual queues” and technical frustrations that have plagued recent major sporting events like the World Cup. With 14 million tickets eventually going on sale for events ranging from swimming to softball, the demand is already proving to be massive.

Local Residents Get First Priority

In a move to reward the host community, LA28 is giving “first dibs” to residents of Southern California and Oklahoma City (where the softball tournament will be held).

  • Notification Window: Local residents will be notified between Tuesday and Thursday of this week.
  • Exclusive Pre-sale: These locals will have an exclusive window to buy tickets from April 2 to April 6.
  • Global Fans: The remaining lucky registrants from around the world will receive their notifications on April 7.

Transparent Pricing Strategy

To ensure the Games remain accessible while still generating necessary revenue, LA28 has implemented a tiered pricing structure:

  • The “$28 for ’28” Initiative: One million tickets will be priced at just $28.
  • Mid-Range: Roughly 50% of all tickets will cost less than $200.
  • Premium: High-demand events and prime seating will reach into the thousands, with 5% of tickets priced over $1,000.

A Simplified Buying Process

Unlike the chaotic “first-come, first-served” scrambles of the past, selected fans will be assigned a specific 48-hour window to complete their purchase. This allows fans to browse and buy without the pressure of a ticking clock or website crashes. During this initial phase, individual purchases are limited to 12 tickets for general events and an additional 12 specifically for soccer.

“That number [5 million] really speaks to the global excitement for these Games and for what Los Angeles represents as a host city.” — Allison Katz-Mayfield, LA28 Senior VP.

For those who missed this round, organizers confirmed that additional registration periods and sales windows will open later in 2026.
