Following a record-breaking 2026 edition, the Australian Open has officially extended its partnership with the Brazilian agency Golden Goal. The renewal ensures the agency will remain the Grand Slam’s official representative in South America for the 2027 season, focusing on a long-term commercial strategy for the region.

Record-Breaking Attendance and Media Growth

The 2026 tournament, which saw Carlos Alcaraz and Elena Rybakina crowned as champions, achieved the highest physical attendance among all four Grand Slams, drawing over 1.37 million fans to Melbourne Park. On the digital front, the event generated 3.5 billion social media impressions and saw a nearly 30% increase in television viewership across South America.

A Consistent Year-Round Commercial Strategy

The collaboration with Golden Goal aims to maintain the Australian Open’s brand presence in the South American market throughout the entire year, moving beyond the two-week competition window. A key success of this strategy was the recent onboarding of Stella Artois (Ambev) as an official regional partner. This deal integrated the Grand Slam into a portfolio that already includes Roland Garros and Wimbledon.

Tapping into the Booming Latin American Tennis Market

The expansion aligns with a surge in the regional tennis market, which is currently valued at approximately $1.5 billion with a 5% annual growth rate. Brazil alone boasts over 2 million active players, making it a fertile ground for sports investment. Marcos Nobrega, Director of Partnerships at Golden Goal, noted that the renewal confirms the tournament’s strong dialogue with the Brazilian market.

Fostering Talent through the Junior Series

Beyond commercial interests, the partnership continues to focus on athletic development via the “Australian Open Junior Series South America” held in Rio de Janeiro. The winner of this event receives a wildcard for the Grand Slam’s junior draw. André Sá, the tournament’s Director of Player Relations, emphasized that the next 12 months will feature several “premieres” as the brand deepens its connection with South American fans.
