Brazilian club Bahia has signed a three-year sponsorship agreement with Chinese electric vehicle giant BYD, strengthening both its commercial strategy and international partnerships.
The deal, announced on March 22, aligns with BYD’s expanding investments in Brazil, particularly its manufacturing operations in the state of Bahia. The company’s logo will now feature on the shoulder area of Bahia’s men’s and women’s team jerseys.
Beyond kit branding, the partnership includes increased visibility through stadium LED advertising, training ground branding, and a range of marketing activations aimed at engaging fans and enhancing business development opportunities.
The agreement comes as BYD continues to expand its production footprint in Camaçari, where the company currently employs around 3,200 workers and plans to hire an additional 3,000 as part of its facility expansion.
Bahia SAF Marketing and Business Development Director Rafael Soares highlighted the strategic importance of the partnership:
“This partnership with BYD represents a fundamental step in strengthening our brand. Aligning Bahia with a company leading the transition in sustainable mobility expands our international presence and reinforces our commitment to building connections beyond football.”
For BYD, the deal is part of a broader strategy to increase brand awareness in Brazil, a key market for the company. Alexandre Baldy, Senior Vice President of BYD Brazil, emphasized the company’s long-standing presence in the country and the cultural importance of football in its branding strategy.
The agreement also reflects BYD’s growing involvement in global football, following a recent sponsorship deal with Manchester City, further expanding its footprint within the City Football Group ecosystem.
