The Buffalo Bills have revealed the design of three massive bison statues that will be placed in front of their new stadium, Highmark Stadium, set to open later in 2026.
The statues will be displayed in the Family Circle Plaza as a signature visual landmark for the venue.
A large-scale artistic installation
The sculptures, designed by artist Blessing Hancock, represent a bison family:
- A 24-foot bull (23,000 pounds)
- A 19-foot cow
- A 9-foot calf
The installation was selected after a competitive process with over 140 proposals.
Interactive features and design
The statues include advanced design elements such as:
- Internal and external lighting systems
- Programmable 30-foot light poles
- Steam effects powered by a COâ‚‚ system through the nostrils
These features aim to create a visually striking experience both day and night.
Symbolism and brand identity
The bison statues reflect the Bills’ identity and heritage, incorporating visual elements tied to the team’s logo and branding.
The project was funded by the team and not included in public stadium financing.
A landmark for the future
The Bills emphasize the installation as part of a broader vision for the stadium—positioning it not just as a sports venue, but as a modern, immersive fan experience and cultural landmark.
