The Badminton World Federation (BWF) has unveiled a transformative strategic plan to elevate the sport’s global commercial profile. In partnership with the Infront agency—a collaborator since 2018—the federation is focusing on two primary pillars: a massive expansion of media coverage and a record-setting increase in player compensation.

Doubling the Digital Footprint The BWF aims to more than double the number of badminton matches produced for television and digital platforms. The current output of approximately 1,410 matches per season is projected to surge to over 3,000 matches. This expansion is designed to provide fans with more consistent access to live action and to offer sponsors significantly higher visibility across the global tour.

Record Prize Pools and Participation To match the increased broadcast output, the federation is injecting more capital into the competitive ecosystem:

  • Total Prize Money: The annual prize pool across the world circuit is set to rise to $29.6 million (€24.83 million).
  • Expanded Fields: Major tournaments will feature an increased number of participants, providing more opportunities for rising athletes to compete at the highest level.
  • Structural Upgrades: The BWF is also focusing on enhancing the “festival-style” atmosphere of its premier events to attract younger demographics.

Strategic Partnership with Infront This overhaul is part of a long-term vision supported by Infront, which has been instrumental in managing the BWF’s media and marketing rights. By aligning professional badminton with modern sports entertainment standards, the BWF hopes to solidify its position as a top-tier global sport ahead of the next Olympic cycle.
