Cádiz cf-linked firm adds José Manuel Calderón to board in expansion push

In a move that blends elite sport pedigree with global business ambition, Nomadar Corporation — the publicly listed affiliate of Cádiz CF — has appointed former NBA guard José Manuel Calderón to its board of directors, effective immediately.

Nomadar is betting that Calderón’s résumé — spanning top-tier international basketball, entrepreneurship, and capital markets exposure — will sharpen its positioning as it scales a multi-vertical sports platform. The company is currently advancing flagship developments such as the JP Financial Arena while accelerating its international footprint.

Executive co-chair Rafael Contreras framed the appointment as a strategic inflection point, emphasizing Calderón’s global network and experience navigating both sport and business ecosystems. The expectation: stronger execution and increased appeal to institutional investors as Nomadar expands its platform model.

Calderón, for his part, highlighted the company’s ambition to integrate sport, infrastructure, and technology into a globally relevant ecosystem — signaling his intent to contribute directly to both the arena project and broader international growth initiatives.

The appointment follows a series of aggressive moves by Nomadar. In March, the company secured $5.4 million in funding from investor Christian Septien to fuel its global sports development strategy. Earlier this year, it also partnered with Actingwood to enter the Indian football market through the “India Football Pathway,” a digital ecosystem aimed at nurturing young talent across the country.

Meanwhile, Calderón continues to expand his footprint off the court. He is set to join the investor base of Velca with a commitment of up to €2.5 million in its latest funding round — aligning himself with a growing cohort of high-profile business figures entering the mobility and tech space.

With Calderón now inside the boardroom, Nomadar is signaling a clear direction: sport is no longer just competition — it’s infrastructure, capital, and global scale.
