Disney executive Alisa Bowen appointed Fubo CEO

Internet television platform FuboTV has appointed Alisa Bowen as its new Chief Executive Officer, replacing long-serving CEO and co-founder David Gandler, following the company’s acquisition by Disney in 2025.

Bowen joins Fubo from Disney+, where she has served as President since September 2022. She brings extensive experience from Disney’s streaming business, having previously held senior leadership roles including Executive Vice President of Business Operations for Disney Streaming and Senior Vice President for Digital Media and Chief Technology Officer for Disney’s international operations. She is also regarded as one of the co-founders of Disney’s streaming business.

Bowen succeeds David Gandler, who led Fubo for 11 years and helped transform the company into one of the largest internet-based pay-TV providers in the United States. Alongside stepping down as CEO, Gandler has also resigned from Fubo’s board of directors. Reports suggest his departure was driven by frustration over the level of investment allocated to Fubo following Disney’s acquisition.

Bowen is also expected to join Fubo’s board, filling the vacancy left by Gandler.

“I am excited to lead Fubo into its next phase as we sharpen our strategy across sports, news and entertainment, accelerate growth and drive profitability,” Bowen said. She added that the company will continue to focus on creating greater value for subscribers of both Fubo and Hulu + Live TV, while strengthening relationships with advertisers and content partners.

Reflecting on his departure, Gandler highlighted the company’s achievements over the past decade.

“We have built a dynamic streaming platform centered around innovative multichannel video programming into one of the largest pay-TV providers in the United States,” he said. “Fubo now has industry-leading programming partnerships, innovative services and premium live sports and entertainment content, positioning it well for future growth.”

Disney officially completed its acquisition of Fubo in October 2025. Although Fubo continues to operate as a standalone service under Disney’s Hulu + Live TV umbrella, Disney now owns approximately 70% of the company.

Industry observers expect Hulu + Live TV and Fubo to become more closely integrated over time, with a broader restructuring that could also see Hulu’s standalone streaming service further consolidated into the Disney+ ecosystem. Such a move would simplify Disney’s streaming portfolio while combining subscriber bases across its television platforms.

Together, Hulu + Live TV and FuboTV now serve more than six million subscribers. However, they remain behind market leader YouTube TV, which has surpassed 10 million subscribers and is expected to become the largest pay-TV platform in the United States within the next year.
