Michele Uva, the official representative for the Italian Organizing Committee of UEFA EURO 2032, has projected a massive economic windfall for Italy. Speaking on the joint bid with Turkey, Uva estimated that the tournament will deliver a direct economic impact of approximately €4 billion to the Italian host cities.
The projection is based on data from Euro 2024 in Germany, which saw a €7.6 billion boost. Since Italy will host half of the tournament’s matches, Uva anticipates a proportional benefit for the local economy and infrastructure.
Revitalizing Italian Stadiums
A primary focus of the committee is the modernization of Italy’s sporting facilities. Uva highlighted the Stadio Olimpico in Rome as a cornerstone of the project. Working alongside Sport e Salute, the goal is to transform the historic venue into one of the most modern and fan-friendly stadiums in the world.
“Modern stadiums are a citizen’s right,” Uva stated, emphasizing that improved infrastructure allows for diverse ticketing strategies and better accessibility.
A Century of Evolution
Diego Nepi Molineris, CEO of Sport e Salute, noted that the Olimpico is undergoing its fourth major evolution. Following its origins a century ago and major renovations for the 1960 Olympics and 1990 World Cup, the 2032 plan aims to align the stadium with future spectator trends and sustainable infrastructure.
