Apple TV and IMAX have announced a historic partnership to transform how fans consume motorsport in the United States. Starting in May 2026, five of the most iconic Grand Prix events on the Formula 1 calendar will be broadcast live in more than 50 IMAX theaters across the country, offering an unprecedented visual and sonic experience.
The deal comes following Apple TV’s debut as the official broadcaster of F1 in the U.S. earlier this year, aiming to capitalize on the sport’s massive growth in North America.
Immersive Race Experience Details
The collaboration will focus on key events throughout the season, allowing fans to experience high-speed racing on a cinematic scale:
- Race Calendar: The selection includes legendary dates such as the Miami GP (May 3), Monaco (May 24), British GP (July 5), Italian GP (September 6), and the finale of the U.S. tour at the Austin GP (October 25).
- IMAX Technology: The broadcasts will utilize giant screens and high-fidelity surround sound systems to replicate the energy of the paddock and the roar of the engines.
- Apple’s Vision: Oliver Schusser, Vice President of Music and Sports at Apple, noted that bringing F1 live to IMAX theaters allows fans to experience the excitement in a “truly immersive” format.
Impact on the U.S. Market
This move reinforces Apple’s strategy of merging cutting-edge technology with premium sports content. It marks the first time a streaming operator of this caliber has moved track action directly to the big screen live for a full debut season.
