Formula 1 is doubling down on youth engagement.
The championship has extended its multi-year agreement with The Walt Disney Company, advancing the “Fuel the Magic†campaign into a new commercial phase in 2026. Initially launched at the Las Vegas Grand Prix in 2025, the collaboration blends motorsport with one of the world’s most powerful entertainment brands — and its most recognizable character, Mickey Mouse.
From Track to Timeline: A Multi-Platform Activation
The renewed initiative combines three strategic pillars:
1️⃣ Digital Content
A vertical comic series titled “Mickey X Formula 1: Racing to the Top!†will debut on Webtoon starting with the Australian Grand Prix.
The move reflects F1’s broader strategy of meeting younger audiences on mobile-first storytelling platforms.
2️⃣ Co-Branded Merchandising
Pop-up stores at select Grands Prix will feature exclusive collections merging Disney IP with Formula 1 branding.
Several global lifestyle partners are joining the activation, including:
- Gentle Monster
- Uniqlo
- Huffy
This expands the campaign beyond traditional motorsport merchandise into fashion and lifestyle retail categories.
3️⃣ On-Site Fan Experiences
Trackside activations and experiential zones will extend the narrative into Grand Prix environments, reinforcing Formula 1’s ambition to turn race weekends into entertainment festivals rather than purely sporting events.
Why It Matters
Formula 1’s commercial evolution increasingly blends sport, entertainment, and licensing.
By aligning with Disney, F1 taps into:
- A younger demographic pipeline
- Global merchandising infrastructure
- Cross-platform storytelling reach
For Disney, meanwhile, the partnership embeds its characters inside a premium global sports property with growing traction among Gen Z audiences.
The result is less a sponsorship — and more a content ecosystem built around one of the fastest-growing sports properties in global media.
