Inter Miami CF is preparing to enter a new era with the imminent opening of its $1 billion stadium project, set to become the club’s long-term home from 2026.
The franchise, co-owned by David Beckham, will relocate to the newly developed Miami Freedom Park, now commercially branded as the Nu Stadium. The move coincides with Lionel Messi extending his contract until 2028, ensuring he will headline the club’s debut in the new venue.
The Nu Stadium will feature a capacity of 25,000 seats and serve as the centerpiece of a 53-hectare mixed-use development. The broader project includes:
- A 23-hectare public park
- Youth sports facilities
- Restaurants and retail outlets
- Hotels and entertainment attractions
- Office spaces and a concert venue
Designed by Manica in partnership with Arquitectonica, the project represents a fully privately funded investment, with no reliance on public money.
The total cost—covering stadium construction, infrastructure, parking, and entertainment facilities—is estimated at $1 billion.
The development received strong local backing, with over 60% of Miami residents supporting the project in a public referendum held last November. According to project stakeholders, the complex is expected to generate more than $40 million annually in tax revenue for the city of Miami, Miami-Dade County, the state of Florida, and local public schools.
Additionally, the project is projected to create more than 13,000 jobs, with commitments to market-rate rent payments and fair wages for all on-site employees.
With Messi at its center and a billion-dollar infrastructure behind it, Inter Miami is positioning itself not just as a football club—but as a major entertainment and urban development powerhouse in North America.
