The Italian Volleyball League has unveiled the most comprehensive broadcast strategy in its history for the 2026/27 season, introducing a multi-platform distribution model that will take matches beyond traditional television and streaming services.
Under a new three-year agreement, league matches will be available on RAI, DAZN, YouTube, as well as the official digital channels of the league, participating clubs and even players, creating an unprecedented level of accessibility for fans in Italy.
Three matches per week to be streamed across social media
For the first time, three regular-season matches each week will be broadcast not only through the league’s official platforms but also simultaneously on the social media accounts of the competing clubs and their players.
The initiative is designed to reach fans wherever they consume content, while also expanding volleyball’s audience by engaging younger, digital-first viewers through the platforms they use most.
“The match should find the fan”
The league says the new strategy is built around a simple philosophy: fans should no longer have to search for the match—the match should find the fans.
By distributing live games across multiple digital touchpoints, the Italian Volleyball League aims to increase the sport’s visibility, strengthen fan engagement and attract new audiences that may not traditionally watch volleyball through conventional broadcasters.
A new model for sports media
The initiative represents one of the boldest digital distribution strategies adopted by a European sports league, combining traditional broadcasters with direct-to-fan platforms in an effort to maximize reach rather than limit content behind a single rights holder.
As sports organizations continue to rethink media rights in the digital era, the Italian Volleyball League’s approach could become a blueprint for how niche and emerging sports expand their audiences through social media and creator-driven distribution.
