Kevin Durant and Texas Launch Landmark NIL Program Featuring Madison Booker

Former Longhorn legend and current NBA superstar Kevin Durant has returned to his roots to transform the Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) landscape at the University of Texas. In a first-of-its-kind partnership with Nike, Durant announced the launch of a comprehensive NIL program designed to celebrate and support elite Longhorn student-athletes.

The Rise of “Team KD” The initiative, dubbed “Team KD,” officially named Texas women’s basketball star Madison Booker as its inaugural athlete. As the first member of this exclusive roster, Booker will receive direct access to Durant’s player-exclusive (PE) footwear, custom apparel, and specialized brand support.

Beyond the Court: The Boardroom Summit The partnership extends far beyond sneakers and gear. In collaboration with Durant’s media company, Boardroom, the University of Texas and Nike will host an annual Sports Business Summit.

Open to all UT student-athletes and sports business students, the inaugural summit is scheduled for later in 2026. The program aims to provide professional development through:

  • Storytelling & Strategy: Sessions led by industry experts on personal branding.
  • Financial Literacy: Practical planning for long-term wealth management.
  • Interactive Mentorship: Direct access to marquee speakers and sports business leaders.

A Full Circle Moment For Booker, who has often cited Durant as a primary influence on her game, the deal represents a significant milestone in her career. The program is designed to create impactful programming that fosters education in the sports business space, ensuring the next generation of Longhorns is prepared for success both on and off the court.
