The ownership group behind the Seattle Kraken has taken a majority stake in their home venue, Climate Pledge Arena, through the launch of a new entity, One Roof Sports and Entertainment.
Led by Samantha Holloway, the group reached an agreement with Oak View Group as part of a pre-planned ownership transition designed to unlock future growth opportunities across sports, entertainment, and community assets.
Consolidating control of a modern sports hub
Under the agreement, One Roof Sports and Entertainment will become the majority owner of Climate Pledge Arena, while Oak View Group retains a significant minority stake and will continue to operate and book the venue under a long-term arrangement.
The move strengthens the Kraken organization’s control over one of the NHL’s most modern and sustainability-focused arenas, which opened in 2021 on the site of the former KeyArena.
The 18,000-capacity venue—designed by Populous—is also home to the Seattle Storm and the Seattle Torrent, making it the only arena in North America to host two professional women’s teams.
A broader Seattle sports ecosystem strategy
The new One Roof Sports and Entertainment brand will serve as an umbrella organization overseeing the Kraken, Climate Pledge Arena, the One Roof Foundation, and additional community-driven projects, including the redevelopment of the New Memorial Stadium in partnership with the city and local schools.
That project, expected to open in 2027, will support youth sports, cultural events, and community programming—reinforcing the organization’s commitment to Seattle’s long-term sports infrastructure.
Timing aligned with NBA expansion discussions
The announcement comes as the NBA evaluates potential expansion opportunities in Seattle, a city that has been without an NBA franchise since the Seattle SuperSonics relocation to Oklahoma City.
Climate Pledge Arena—partially financed by the Kraken ownership—was designed with NBA return in mind, adding further intrigue to the city’s evolving sports landscape.
A multi-asset sports and entertainment platform
Beyond the arena and NHL team, One Roof Sports and Entertainment will also oversee interests in the Coachella Valley Firebirds and the Acrisure Arena, expanding the group’s reach across multiple leagues and markets.
Kraken CEO Tod Leiweke will lead the new entity, overseeing a growing portfolio that blends professional sports, community development, and real estate.
A long-term play for influence and growth
Kraken ownership views the move as a way to streamline operations while strengthening its long-term strategic position in the North American sports market.
