Nike has appointed Alexandre Arnault, deputy CEO of LVMH’s Moët Hennessy division, to its board of directors as the sportswear giant works to rebuild momentum across its business.
The appointment brings an executive from the luxury sector into Nike’s leadership at a time when the relationship between sports and luxury is becoming increasingly prominent.
Arnault, the son of LVMH chairman and CEO Bernard Arnault, has served as deputy CEO of Moët Hennessy since 2025. He previously held senior positions at Tiffany & Co., where he oversaw collaborations involving the NBA and Nike, and played a key role in LVMH’s acquisition and transformation of Rimowa in 2016.
Nike executive chairman Mark Parker said Arnault had built a reputation for helping global brands evolve, innovate and grow in complex and rapidly changing markets.
Nike continues its leadership overhaul
Arnault joins the board as Nike seeks to accelerate sales growth and restore momentum following a challenging period for the company.
Nike has faced pressure after relying heavily on established product lines and pursuing a direct-to-consumer strategy that reduced its presence across traditional retail channels. CEO Elliott Hill is leading the company’s efforts to rebuild the brand and strengthen its commercial performance.
Nike shares rose 0.4% in after-hours trading following the announcement.
LVMH expands its presence in sport
The appointment also comes as the Arnault family and LVMH deepen their involvement in sport.
LVMH was a major partner of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games and has expanded its presence in Formula 1. The Arnault family also acquired control of Paris FC in 2024, adding football to its growing sports portfolio.
Arnault’s previous experience at Tiffany included partnerships with the NBA and Nike, giving him experience across luxury, sport and global brand collaborations.
Nike recently appointed Walmart executive Jane Ewing as its executive vice president and chief commercial officer. The latest appointments underline the company’s broader effort to strengthen its leadership team as it works to return to sustainable growth.
