Glasberg, founder of PBI Sports and Entertainment, will conduct the search through The Coaches Agency, a firm specializing in executive recruitment within hockey. His role is expected to include sourcing and vetting candidates, though not directly influencing the final decision.
However, the appointment has raised concerns across the league, as Glasberg also represents several NHL coaches and executives — including potential candidates for the position — creating a perceived conflict of interest. While sources indicate the arrangement does not violate NHL rules, it has nonetheless prompted debate about transparency and governance in executive hiring processes.
Among the names linked to the role is Sunny Mehta, currently assistant general manager of the Florida Panthers, known for his data-driven approach. Other reported candidates include experienced executives and former general managers, as the Maple Leafs explore a range of leadership profiles.
