Construction Starts on Miami Sports Performance Hub

Work has officially begun on the Sports Performance Hub. This new 92-acre sports and education campus will house a 10,000-seat stadium for the Miami FC team which competes in the USL Championship.

Project Scope and Funding

The privately funded project in South Dade will cost $280 million to construct. Beyond the new stadium, the campus will feature multi-sport academies, a boarding school for student-athletes, a sports-themed hotel, health and wellness services, and various public spaces. Community infrastructure at the site will include recreation facilities and a children’s park.

A groundbreaking ceremony held at the former Homestead Sports Complex drew local officials, international sports figures, and civic leaders. A group of athletes and entrepreneurs is leading the project including former footballers Juan Sebastián Verón and Dario Sala, former NBA star Manu Ginobili, and Miami FC majority owner Riccardo Silva.

Development Phases

The development will occur in two phases. The first phase will establish core non-residential academies and training infrastructure. The second phase is scheduled for completion in 2027 and will add the stadium, hotel, and student housing.

Strategic Vision for the Community

Sports Performance Hub chief executive Nick Sakiewicz stated that the project is about more than facilities or investment because it focuses on people and possibility. He noted that the $280 million commitment creates a place where young athletes can dream bigger while the Homestead community thrives alongside them. He added that by bringing together elite multi-sport training, education, and hospitality, the organization is building an ecosystem that supports the whole athlete and strengthens the local economy for generations to come.

Miami FC and Future Integration

The Sports Performance Hub organization holds a 60 percent majority stake in Miami FC. This provides a direct pathway for student-athletes to advance to professional levels. Miami FC currently plays at Pitbull Stadium but the new complex will also host baseball fields, basketball and tennis courts, and the Homestead Championship Rodeo.
