MotoGP has extended its agreement with Silverstone Circuit, ensuring the British Grand Prix will remain on the FIM MotoGP World Championship calendar through the end of the 2028 season. Financial terms of the renewal were not disclosed.
Silverstone first hosted a premier-class motorcycle race in 1977 and has served as the home of the British Grand Prix almost continuously since 2010. The renewed agreement aims to further enhance the event, improve the fan experience and expand MotoGP’s audience across the United Kingdom.
MotoGP Group CEO Carmelo Ezpeleta said the United Kingdom remains one of the championship’s most important markets, highlighting the country’s rich motorcycle racing heritage. He noted that the partnership with Silverstone has grown significantly since 2010, delivering memorable British Grand Prix events for fans.
Silverstone CEO Stuart Pringle described the extension as more than a contract renewal, saying it reinforces the circuit’s position as the home of British motorsport and reflects a shared long-term vision between the venue and MotoGP.
The agreement is part of MotoGP’s broader strategy to secure long-term stability across its calendar. The championship has recently confirmed the Malaysian Grand Prix at Sepang through 2031 and extended the participation agreements of all 11 MotoGP teams until 2031, with the Silverstone renewal representing another key milestone in its long-term commercial and sporting strategy.
