Jake Paul-owned MVP Promotions (MVP) has officially announced the launch of MVPW, a new promotion dedicated exclusively to women’s boxing. The initiative is backed by a landmark multi-year broadcasting deal with ESPN that runs through 2028, signaling a major push to professionalize and elevate the global stage for female fighters.
High-Profile Launch Calendar
MVPW has hit the ground running with an ambitious schedule, including three major events in rapid succession:
- MVPW-01 (April 5, London): The inaugural event marks the league’s global debut.
- MVPW-02 (April 17, New York): Held at the iconic Infosys Theater at Madison Square Garden, headlined by unified super featherweight champion Alycia Baumgardner defending her WBA, WBO, and IBF titles against Bo Mi Re Shin.
- MVPW-03 (May 30, El Paso): Featuring the highly anticipated rematch between Holly Holm and Stephanie Han.
Strategic Vision
“Since inception, MVP has strategically focused on creating an umbrella brand as the global home for women’s boxing,” said MVP co-founder Nakisa Bidarian. The deal with ESPN and a partnership with MSG Entertainment are designed to place women’s boxing in premium slots, engaging both core boxing fans and broader demographics.
The Holm-Han Rematch
The headline bout for MVPW-03, the rematch between Holly Holm and Stephanie Han, looks to provide closure to their previous encounter, which ended in a technical decision following an accidental clash of heads. Han, the WBA lightweight champion, aims to prove her dominance in her hometown of El Paso, while Hall of Famer Holly Holm looks to reclaim her standing in the division.
