NBC and USA Sports Secure Ryder Cup Media Rights Through 2033

The PGA of America has officially extended its broadcast deal with NBC Sports and USA Sports (the cable division spun off by Versant last year) for an additional two years. The extension kicks in after the current deal expires in 2031, covering the highly anticipated 2033 Ryder Cup. This ensures NBC will host the next four iterations of the biennial tournament, including home-soil events in 2029 and 2033.

Strategic Synergy in Golf

The deal highlights the continued collaboration between NBC and Versant’s USA Sports. This joint-venture model follows their successful extension for the US Open rights last year. Beyond the Ryder Cup, the agreement secures multi-platform coverage for:

  • The Women’s PGA Championship: Strengthening the visibility of elite women’s golf.
  • The Senior PGA Championship: Maintaining a comprehensive golf portfolio.
  • The PGA Professional Championship: Airing exclusively on the Golf Channel.

Context and Performance

Despite the 2025 Ryder Cup seeing lower final-day viewership—largely due to a lopsided scoreline—networks remain bullish on the event’s long-term commercial value. The 2033 tournament at The Olympic Club will mark the first time the Ryder Cup has ever been held in the San Francisco Bay Area, a move expected to draw massive regional interest and high-value West Coast advertising slots.

“We are excited to continue our partnership… and look forward to presenting one of the most intense international rivalries in sports at the historic Olympic Club.”
