Netflix draws 12.4 million viewers for Ronda Rousey’s MMA return

Netflix attracted a major global audience for Ronda Rousey’s return to MMA, with the event averaging 12.4 million viewers worldwide.

The bout, promoted by Most Valuable Promotions (MVP), peaked at nearly 17 million global viewers and reached a peak audience of 11.6 million in the United States alone.

Held in Inglewood, California, the event marked MVP’s first-ever MMA show and featured a three-fight main card streamed globally on Netflix. Rousey defeated Gina Carano in just 17 seconds, delivering one of the fastest finishes of her career.

MVP co-founders Jake Paul and Nakisa Bidarian said the event generated strong interest from investors, strategic partners, and fighters looking to become involved in the future of MVP MMA.

The success further strengthens Netflix’s growing presence in live sports broadcasting. The streaming platform already has an established partnership with MVP in boxing, including the December fight between Anthony Joshua and Jake Paul, which reportedly attracted more than 30 million viewers globally.

Netflix previously achieved massive numbers with Paul’s 2024 fight against Mike Tyson, which was watched by over 60 million households worldwide.

The streaming giant has accelerated its investment in live sports rights in recent years, adding properties across American football, tennis, baseball, and football. Earlier this month, Netflix also extended its agreement with the National Football League (NFL) through the 2029-30 season, expanding its package of exclusive live games and events.
