PSG Targets Record-Breaking Nike Deal to Surpass Barcelona’s Landmark Contract

Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) is looking to cement its status as the world’s most lucrative sports brand. Following a stellar 2024–2025 campaign that saw the club clinch its first-ever Champions League title, the Parisian side is currently in talks with long-term partner Nike to sign a landmark sponsorship extension.

The goal is clear: to dethrone FC Barcelona and secure the largest technical sponsorship deal in football history. The Catalan club’s current agreement with the American sportswear giant—valued at €1.7 billion through 2038—is the benchmark PSG intends to surpass.

A Three-Decade Alliance

The partnership between PSG and Nike is one of the most enduring in the sport, dating back to 1989. The relationship evolved significantly in 2018 when the club began its collaboration with the Jordan Brand, which has since become a cornerstone for the club’s third and fourth kits.

Under their current contract (signed in 2019 and running until 2032), PSG receives roughly €60 million per season. However, having moved from a revenue of €99 million in 2011 to a record-breaking €837 million in the 2024–2025 season, the club’s leadership feels their current valuation is well behind industry leaders like Real Madrid and Manchester City.

Changing Market Dynamics

While Nike has recently shifted focus toward major U.S. sports leagues (NBA, NFL, and MLB), the prestige of a newly crowned European champion makes PSG an essential asset for the brand’s global portfolio.

The club’s commercial appeal has also attracted high-profile figures, including NBA superstar Kevin Durant, who recently acquired a 1.6% stake in the club. This investment helped push the club’s total valuation to approximately €3 billion.

As negotiations progress, all eyes are on whether the French side can leverage their newfound European dominance to secure the biggest check in the industry.
