German club FC Schalke 04 has reported a €2.5 million net profit for the first half of the 2025–2026 season, marking a strong financial improvement.
The results come as the club leads the Bundesliga 2 and pushes for a return to the top flight after its relegation in 2021.
Revenue impacted by fewer events
Total revenue reached €83 million, down from €95 million in the same period last year.
The decline is mainly attributed to fewer events hosted at the Veltins Arena, reducing matchday-related income.
Sponsorship and merchandising drive income
The club’s financial performance is supported by strong commercial streams:
- Sponsorships: €20.4 million
- Merchandising: €11.2 million
These figures highlight Schalke’s strong brand presence, even while competing in the second division.
Financial restructuring and stability
Schalke has also taken steps to strengthen its financial position:
- Issued new bonds (2025–2030) to refinance existing debt
- Fully repaid state-backed loans exceeding €25 million
Promotion as a financial catalyst
If Schalke achieves promotion to the Bundesliga, the club expects a significant financial boost through:
- Higher broadcast revenues
- Increased ticket sales
- Squad valuation growth
With a squad value of around €45 million, promotion could significantly reshape the club’s economic and sporting future.
