German pay-TV broadcaster Sportdigital has expanded its elite football portfolio by acquiring the broadcasting rights for North America’s premier club competition, the Concacaf Champions Cup. The deal includes 15 matches from the remainder of the 2026 edition, with a heavy focus on the “German revolution” taking place in Major League Soccer (MLS).
The coverage will be hosted on the Sportdigital1+ channel, beginning with the highly anticipated two-legged tie between Canada’s Vancouver Whitecaps and Costa Rica’s CS Cartaginés on February 19 and 26.
The Müller Factor and the German Influence
The acquisition is strategically timed following Thomas Müller’s high-profile departure from Bayern Munich to join the Vancouver Whitecaps in 2025. Müller is not the only familiar face for German fans; the tournament features a significant roster of former Bundesliga stalwarts, including:
- Thomas Müller & Sebastian Schonlau: Vancouver Whitecaps
- Marco Reus & Erik Thommy: LA Galaxy
- Son Heung-min & Timothy Tillman: LAFC
- Hany Mukhtar: Nashville SC
“With the Concacaf Champions Cup, we have added another premium right to our extensive international football portfolio,” said Bendix Eisermann, Managing Director of Sportdigital. The tournament joins the AFC Champions League Elite (Asia) and the Copa Libertadores (South America) on the platform, solidifying Sportdigital as the home of continental club football.
A Growing Relationship with North American Football
This deal strengthens the existing bond between Sportdigital and Concacaf. The broadcaster previously aired the 2025 Gold Cup and continues to see high demand for North American content within the DACH region (Germany, Austria, Switzerland).
The Concacaf Champions Cup will culminate in a showpiece final on May 30, 2026. Beyond North American rights, Sportdigital’s robust lineup includes the Saudi Pro League, the Eredivisie, the Brazilian Serie A, and the English Women’s Super League (WSL).
Available via platforms like Sky Deutschland, Vodafone, and Magenta TV, the addition of the Champions Cup ensures that German fans can follow their national icons as they chase continental glory across the Atlantic.
