In a major win for sports fans in South Asia, Pakistani pay-TV broadcaster Tapmad has secured exclusive digital and television rights for the upcoming 2026 FIH Men’s Hockey World Cup. The deal ensures that fans across Pakistan will have front-row access to the national team’s highly anticipated return to the global stage after an eight-year absence.
The tournament is scheduled to take place in Belgium and the Netherlands from August 15 to 30, 2026. Tapmad has committed to delivering the action live in high definition (HD) with a premium, ad-free viewing experience.
A Milestone for Pakistani Hockey
Pakistan, a nation with a storied history in the sport, last competed in the Hockey World Cup nearly a decade ago. This partnership aims to capture the excitement of their qualification and their participation in the FIH Hockey Pro League.
“Securing exclusive rights for the FIH Hockey World Cup 2026 reflects Tapmad’s commitment to bringing world-class sports closer to Pakistani audiences,” said Yassir Pasha, CEO of Tapmad. “We believe moments like Pakistan’s return deserve to be experienced by every fan across the country.”
Expanding the Digital Portfolio
The agreement strengthens Tapmad’s existing relationship with the International Hockey Federation (FIH). The broadcaster already holds rights to the Hockey Nations Cup 2024-25, the Hockey Pro League 2025-26, and the World Cup Qualifiers.
FIH Director General Mike Joyce expressed his enthusiasm for the deal: “We are delighted to collaborate with Tapmad to help hockey fans in Pakistan watch the performances of their favorite team at the FIH’s most prestigious event.”
Global Commercial Strategy
This announcement follows a broader push by the FIH to increase its global footprint. The governing body recently partnered with the Sportfive agency to boost brand partnerships in key markets like the Middle East and South Asia. Additionally, FIH has tapped Endeavor Streaming to power its “Watch.Hockey” OTT service, ensuring that the sport remains accessible to a modern, digital-first audience.
