Telefónica has secured a long-term partnership with the Royal Spanish Football Federation, becoming the official technology and telecommunications partner of Spain’s national teams through 2030.
The agreement—financial terms undisclosed—covers the men’s, women’s, U21, and youth national teams, positioning Telefónica’s Movistar as a central player in the federation’s digital ecosystem.
A Strategic Cycle Through 2030
The deal spans a crucial competitive cycle, including the 2026 FIFA World Cup, the 2027 Women’s World Cup, Euro 2028, and the 2030 World Cup, which will be co-hosted by Spain, Portugal, and Morocco.
As part of the agreement, Movistar will serve as a primary platform for exclusive content and digital fan experiences, integrating streaming, real-time data, and broadcast services.
Technology Meets Football
The partnership aims to deepen the connection between football and digital innovation, extending beyond elite teams into grassroots development and the broader federated football community.
Telefónica chairman Marc Murtra highlighted the importance of aligning with major national moments, while RFEF president Rafael Louzán framed the deal as a way to strengthen Spain’s global brand through football.
Commercial and Content Expansion
The collaboration will also unlock new opportunities for content distribution via Movistar Plus+, offering fans behind-the-scenes access during training camps and international competitions.
By integrating all national team levels, the partnership underscores a broader strategy: leveraging technology to enhance fan engagement while supporting youth development and the growth of women’s football.
