Broadcast powerhouse TelevisaUnivision has entered into a strategic partnership with Apple to bring exclusive Spanish-language coverage of Formula 1 (F1) to audiences in the United States. This move marks a significant step in the growing effort to capture the burgeoning Hispanic sports market in the US.
Partnership Highlights
Under the terms of the deal, the agreement focuses on broadening the accessibility of F1 content for Spanish-speaking viewers:
Simulcast Event: Univision will broadcast one Grand Prix race per season, featuring dedicated pre-race and post-race programming produced specifically for the US Hispanic audience.
Promotional Integration: TelevisaUnivision will leverage its massive media reach to promote Apple TV’s broader F1 coverage throughout the 2026 racing season.
Highlight Packages: Fans will gain access to race highlights aired across Univision and its dedicated sports network, TUDN.
Strategic Context
The partnership follows a massive industry shift that saw Apple secure exclusive F1 rights in the US from 2026 through 2030 in a deal valued at approximately $140 million per year.
“Formula 1 is one of the fastest-growing sports in the US,” said Marco Liceaga, Senior Vice President of sports rights at TelevisaUnivision. “As the official broadcast partner in Mexico, we’ve seen firsthand how deeply Hispanic fans connect with it. We’re excited to work with Apple in expanding our coverage of the sport.”
Market Dynamics
The interest in F1 within the Hispanic community is heavily tied to the presence of high-profile talent. There is significant anticipation surrounding Sergio Perez, the premier Mexican driver in the sport, who is set to compete for the newly formed Cadillac F1 team this season.
This deal complements TelevisaUnivision’s massive existing portfolio of sports rights, which already includes Liga MX, the UEFA Champions League, and Major League Baseball, further cementing its position as the primary destination for US Spanish-language sports broadcasting.
