Toyota Center Set for Major $180M Revamp in Houston

Toyota Center Reimagined Project Brings Major Upgrades to Houston Rockets Arena

The Toyota Center, home of the Houston Rockets, is set to undergo a significant redevelopment project aimed at transforming the venue into a more modern, fan-centric sports and entertainment destination.

The project, branded “Toyota Center Reimagined,” has been approved by the Harris County–Houston Sports Authority and will be led by Clutch City Sports & Entertainment, the operator of the facility.

Focus on premium fan experience and amenities

The renovation will introduce a range of new and upgraded premium spaces, including expanded hospitality areas, lounges, and enhanced suite offerings. Existing suites will be fully modernized with improved interiors, upgraded furnishings, and better sightlines.

A new season ticket member lounge will add nearly 5,000 square feet of dedicated hospitality space, while additional premium concepts such as the Summit Club, Sky Bar, and HOU Market will expand upper concourse offerings.

New atrium as a central feature

A key centerpiece of the redevelopment is a nearly 20,000-square-foot atrium located at the corner of Polk and La Branch streets. Featuring a glass façade, the space will serve as a covered outdoor gathering area with digital displays and flexible usage for events and pre-game activations.

Enhanced entry points and circulation

The south entry on Bell Street will be reconfigured to provide a direct view into the arena bowl upon arrival, improving the overall entrance experience. The popular Skybridge connecting the arena to the adjacent parking garage will also be upgraded to streamline access and enhance premium arrival pathways.

Expanded retail and infrastructure upgrades

The Rockets’ team store will be significantly expanded, more than doubling its current retail footprint. Additional improvements include upgraded vertical transportation systems, enhanced fiber connectivity, improved broadcast capabilities, and a modernized control center.

Investment and timeline

The redevelopment is estimated to cost around $180 million, with approximately half funded by Rockets owner Tilman Fertitta. Completion is targeted for autumn 2027.

Multi-use venue for sports and events

Originally opened in 2003 with a capacity of around 19,000, the Toyota Center will also serve as the home arena for Houston’s new WNBA team, the Comets, beginning next year.

Houston city officials have emphasized that the project aligns with broader goals of maintaining a world-class venue capable of supporting both professional sports and large-scale events, reinforcing the arena’s role in downtown Houston’s economic and entertainment ecosystem.
