Ultimate Fighting Championship will stage its first-ever event in Serbia this summer, expanding its European footprint with a Fight Night scheduled for August 1 at the Belgrade Arena.
UFC president Dana White framed the move as part of the organisation’s global growth strategy, targeting new markets with strong fan engagement and government backing.
The event is being delivered under the broader international expansion model of TKO Group Holdings — formed after the merger of UFC and WWE — which focuses on partnerships with host cities and national stakeholders to drive both economic impact and event hosting revenues.
Local authorities see the event as a milestone for the sport’s development in the country. Serbia’s MMA federation highlighted growing recognition of mixed martial arts and positioned the UFC’s arrival as a platform to elevate both athletes and the domestic scene.
The Serbia debut follows UFC’s recent multi-year agreement in Azerbaijan, where the promotion committed to hosting annual events in Baku through 2028 — underlining a clear strategy: deepen presence in emerging European markets through long-term, government-backed deals.
For UFC, Belgrade is less a one-off stop and more another node in a rapidly expanding global events network.
