UniCredit has extended its relationship with the America’s Cup, signing on as a global partner and official banking sponsor for the 2027 edition of the event.
The agreement marks an expansion of UniCredit’s role following its involvement in the previous edition in Barcelona, where it supported youth competition initiatives. For 2027, the bank will take on a more prominent position tied to the 38th Louis Vuitton America’s Cup, scheduled to be held in Naples. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
As part of the partnership, UniCredit will contribute to the organization of the event’s volunteer program, building on a structure that involved approximately 3,000 participants in the previous edition. The bank is also expected to play a role in financial coordination within a broader public-private collaboration framework supporting the event’s delivery.
Sustainability remains a central theme of the agreement. The 2027 edition will incorporate hydrogen-powered support vessels (eChase boats), aligning with a wider push toward clean fuel technologies within the competition. The initiative reflects increasing emphasis on sustainable finance and energy transition in large-scale sporting events.
For UniCredit, the partnership reinforces its strategic positioning in projects that combine infrastructure, innovation, and environmental considerations. For the America’s Cup organizers, the deal highlights a continued shift toward long-term commercial partnerships designed to support complex, capital-intensive event models.
The 2027 event in Naples currently has five teams confirmed, with further entries expected as preparations continue.
