The United States Tennis Association (USTA) is reportedly seeking at least $400 million in private financing to support the renovation of Arthur Ashe Stadium in New York, home of the US Open.
According to reports, the USTA is in talks with institutional investors to secure a long-term loan structure with an average maturity of around 17 years. The financing is intended to help fund a broader modernization project estimated at $800 million.
Arthur Ashe Stadium, located at Flushing Meadows and opened in 1997 with a capacity of 23,771, is set for a major transformation aimed at upgrading both spectator and player facilities ahead of future editions of the tournament.
The planned redevelopment includes a fully renovated main entrance, improved concourses, upgraded restrooms, and new premium hospitality areas. The project also involves adding around 2,000 additional seats in the lower bowl along with expanded food and beverage options and enhanced VIP zones.
A key part of the project is a new high-performance player center, valued at approximately $250 million, featuring updated locker rooms, recovery areas, dining spaces, and a dedicated entrance courtyard designed to improve conditions for the nearly 2,800 players and team members who participate annually.
The renovation is part of the USTA’s long-term strategy to modernize its flagship event and maintain the US Open’s position as one of the most commercially powerful and technologically advanced tournaments in global tennis.
