Volkswagen and Wolfsburg Partner to Develop Women’s Football in Brazil

Volkswagen do Brasil has announced a strategic collaboration with German club Wolfsburg to bolster the development of women’s football in Brazil. For the second consecutive year, Volkswagen is sponsoring the “Projeto Estrelas” via Brazil’s Sports Incentive Law, now adding a technical exchange program that will send the project’s top two young talents to Germany for a one-week training stint at Wolfsburg’s facilities.

The partnership, unveiled at Volkswagen’s Anchieta plant, features support from club legend and former Brazilian international Grafite. The initiative focuses on girls aged 9 to 17 from vulnerable backgrounds, currently supporting 120 athletes with professional technical, medical, and psychological training in São Paulo.

Strategic Impact & ESG Commitment

  • Technical Pipeline: Over 100 participants have already been successfully placed in professional clubs.
  • Global Connection: By linking the grassroots project to Wolfsburg—a powerhouse in women’s football with seven Bundesliga titles and two Champions League trophies—Volkswagen aims to bridge the gap between local talent and global opportunities.
  • Broader Strategy: The initiative complements Volkswagen’s sponsorship of the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF), which runs through 2027 and covers all national teams, including youth categories.
