adidas has partnered with Zinédine Zidane to launch the Metalbone ZZ, a new collection of padel rackets bearing the name of the former France international. The two-model range is priced at €180 and €300, combining the appeal of one of French sport’s most recognisable figures with adidas’ ambitions in the growing padel market.
Zidane, recently appointed head coach of the French national football team, unveiled the rackets on social media in a campaign featuring professional padel player Ale Galán. The collaboration extends the former midfielder’s association with adidas into a sport that continues to attract investment from major sportswear brands.
Two models target different player segments
The collection includes two versions designed for different levels of play.
The Metalbone ZZ Carbon, priced at €300, is the premium model, aimed at advanced players. It features a round shape, balanced weight distribution, a carbon-fibre surface and EVA Soft Performance foam. The racket also comes with packaging created specifically for the Zidane collaboration.
The Metalbone ZZ Team, retailing at €180, offers a more accessible option. Its fibreglass surface is designed to provide greater flexibility and comfort.
Both rackets incorporate technologies from adidas’ Metalbone range, including Octagonal Structure, Low Poly and Extra Power Grip.
adidas looks to strengthen its position in padel
The launch reflects adidas’ strategy of using high-profile sporting partnerships to reinforce its position in padel, a market that has been expanding in France and other international markets.
Zidane’s profile provides additional visibility for the collection, particularly following his appointment as France head coach. For adidas, the collaboration also offers another opportunity to activate its longstanding relationship with one of the most influential figures in French football.
The two price points allow the brand to address different consumer segments, from advanced players seeking a premium racket to those looking for a more accessible entry into the Metalbone range.
