Netflix Secures Gold Cup Rights in Mexico

Netflix has secured exclusive rights in Mexico for the Concacaf Gold Cup and Concacaf Nations League Finals under a four-year agreement with Concacaf.

The deal covers the 2027 and 2029 editions of both competitions, strengthening Netflix’s push into live sports.

The 2027 Nations League Finals will be held in March at SoFi Stadium, while the Gold Cup will follow in summer 2027, featuring 16 teams.

Strategic expansion

The agreement highlights Netflix’s growing focus on football in high-demand markets such as Mexico, where national team competitions consistently attract large audiences.

Concacaf general secretary Philippe Moggio said the partnership will expand access and deepen fan engagement through a new digital platform.

Netflix executive Carolina Leconte added that live events tied to major fan bases are becoming a central part of the platform’s content strategy.

Live sports momentum

The deal builds on Netflix’s expanding sports portfolio, which includes rights to the FIFA Women’s World Cup (2027 and 2031).

The company has also invested in combat sports, including a high-profile bout between Terence Crawford and Saul Alvarez that drew 41 million viewers globally.

Further expansion includes a partnership with Most Valuable Promotions and an upcoming fight featuring Ronda Rousey and Gina Carano.

Netflix also holds agreements with the NFL and WWE, alongside content in baseball and tennis.

Outlook

The Concacaf deal signals a continued shift toward exclusive live sports rights in key regional markets, as streaming platforms compete for premium football content and audience engagement.
